Born in Barking and raised in Dagenham I later went to Secondary School in Aveley, then Thurrock College and eventually Central School of Art in London. After college I worked as a carpenter to make ends meet while I worked on various book ideas until Rayner Sussex and I were successful with 'The Magic Apple' and I have illustrated a score or more since including books by Alison Prince, Michael Rosen, Kjarton Poskitt, Dorothy Edwards and Anne Fine. Amongst my favourites are the series of three books by Lee Pressman that we call the 'Muckfield Hat Trick'. I have also illustrated over thirty stories for Thames Television's 'Rainbow' programme.
